Pottery course - Throwing and Hand building
Our Throwing and Hand building course is suitable for beginners. The course provides an opportunity to learn and practice both throwing and hand building. You will receive tutoring at every stage to enable you to explore and develop your ideas and try out new techniques.
Each session will consist of demonstrations, taking you through various ways to make pottery, such as coiling and slab building, centering clay on the wheel and throwing various shapes, pulling handles and glazing techniques.
We will choose a project for each term; this is optional and purely for inspiration.
Throughout the course you will have continuous tutoring and support.
Duration: 6 weeks, 2.5 hours per week (including 15 minutes of clean-up at the end of each session).
Adult courses are open to anyone aged 16 or older, however, those who are aged between 16-18 years must be accompanied by an attending parent or guardian.

Firing Charges: Smooth White Stoneware/Grogged White Stoneware
Charges are based on weight before bisque firing: £1 per 100 grams for Smooth White Stoneware £1 per 100 grams for Grogged White Stoneware.

Each session will consist of demonstrations and explanations of techniques, taking you through processes such as coil building, slab building, using moulds and decorative techniques.
There will also be the chance to have a go on the wheel, but please note, this is not a throwing course.
Duration: 6 weeks, 2.5 hours per week (including 15 minutes of clean-up at the end of each session).
